Baile Felix is a famous health resort in Romania, situated in the North-western
part of the country, at only 9 km from Oradea.
The thermal mineral waters were discovered around the year 1000
(other sources state the year 1200 or even 1700 as the right date) by
Felix Hendres, the rector of the monastery in Sanmartin's hence the name of the resort.
They have been used since then for the treatment of various affections, such us inflammatory
rheumatic diseases, degenerative and articular rheumatic diseases, central and peripheral
neurological disorders, gynecological diseases, post-traumatic conditions, endocrine disorders.
The resort was founded in 1711-1721, when were established the first treatment units, and has
continuously evolved to become nowadays one of the most visited and modern health resorts
in Romania. You will find here modern equipped treatment units, where you can
experience a great variety of therapeutic methods: kinotherapy, electrotherapy,
hydrotherapy, aerosols, sauna, remedial gymnastics, outdoor and indoor thermal bathes.
The 43-49 degrees Celsius thermal waters and the moderate climate with mild winters make it
possible to take a bath in the open-air thermal water pools even during winter.
The air quality is very good, due to the vast broad-leaved trees forests
spread around the resort. In short you will find here all the conditions you need
to spend a quiet and relaxing vacation, all the year round.

landmark of Baile Felix, discovered in 1789 by the botanist P. Kitaibel and named in 1908 by

In Betfia, a locality in the neighbourhood, you will find the so called Betfia Crater.
Actually it isn't a volcanic form but a karst one, a 86 m deep aven which can be explored
only by the ones who have experience in caving activities and adequate equipment.
